The tour starts from the city park near the port of Kotor, 200m from the main gate of the Old Town. Our first stop is an islet in the middle of the Bay of Kotor, named after the church on it - Our Lady of Škrpjela.
According to the story, after the shipwreck, sailors found an icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary with Christ in that place. As a sign of remembrance, the local fishermen vowed to create an artificial island by throwing stones at the same place where the Lady was found, on which a church will later be built in her honor.
The interior of the church dates from the 15th century. In the central part, there is a marble altar that houses the icon of Our Lady of Škrpjela, which was painted by the famous painter Lovro Dobrićević. Also, the interior is decorated with many baroque paintings by the famous Kotor painter Tripo Kokolj: Coronation of Mary, Death of Mary, Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary and many others.
The next stop is picturesque Perast. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its Baroque architecture, historic palaces, Catholic churches and defensive towers that will take your senses back to the old days. Despite having only one main street, the Old Town is full of history, attractions and hedonistic experiences that visitors will cherish for years to come.
